Words can be awesome. They either have meaning or they don’t. Some of my favorite words come from a book I read by Marianne Williamson…A quote by Nelson Mandela. It goes like this……….
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
In the minds of children, I wonder if fear dwells. Does it creep into their dreams like a thief…stealing their vision? Does it cover their mouths preventing them from putting into words how they feel…what they need and what makes them fearful?
I wonder also…does fear control and reside inside the minds and hearts of parents who want the best for their children but are simply not sure how to get it? Young inexperienced parents, who are not as equipped as they need to be in order to prepare their children for the challenges of life.
As you can see…I wonder a lot about fear. I have also learned that fear looks around, but Faith always looks up! I am speaking from the village position now…not as an individual standing in the gateway alone, but as a villager strengthened by the hard road I have traveled, sadness I have overcome and life lessons I have compiled and tucked inside my tool box. There is a lot more tools needed, but I am confident that when needed…the tools will be there. A movement starts with an idea…one person at a time. Change happens right in front of the change maker. If I am to help the world…I will not be playing small! I have made my first step…defining the problem(s). It is now time to take the next steps…I am a member of the village it will take to raise up a child….and I am part of the village it will take to help parents who are willing to do some very hard work to build a spiritually strong foundation to support and nurture their children. It is my goal! It is my vision! The time is NOW!
